Privacy & Data at FlightDeck
Here you can learn more about how we
Your data, your control.
When you use FlightDeck, you trust us with a small part of your virtual flying data. We want to be transparent about exactly what that means.
The data we use
To log your flights and award XP, we need some basic information from the networks you fly on. From VATSIM (and soon IVAO), we receive your pilot ID, flight details such as departure and arrival airports, aircraft type, and flight times. If you connect SimBrief, we also fetch your generated flight plan — things like route, fuel, and cost index.
On your FlightDeck profile, we store your username, email address, and any preferences you set (for example, your chosen language and visibility settings).
That’s all. We don’t go digging into your simulator, and we don’t collect anything unrelated to FlightDeck itself.
What we don’t collect
There are things we deliberately stay away from. We don’t see your personal simulator telemetry (controls, failures, views). We don’t ask for or store passwords from third-party services — everything is done via secure tokens. And because FlightDeck is free, we never handle payment details.
How we store it
All your flights and profile data are stored securely on our servers. We only keep what we need to make the platform run smoothly and to give you access to your history. If you ever decide to delete your account, your data is removed.
Why we need it
The information we collect exists for one purpose: to give you the FlightDeck experience. Without it, we couldn’t log flights, award XP, track leaderboards, or import your SimBrief plan. In some cases, we also look at usage in an anonymized way to understand how features are used and where we can improve.
Who can see it
You’re always in control of your own data. Your flights and stats are visible in your profile, and public elements like leaderboards or badges can be seen by others. Beyond that, your information isn’t shared or sold. You can always change who can view your profile details if you head to your Settings > Privacy.
For the legal fine print, see our Privacy Policy. But in short: your data stays yours, and we only use it to make FlightDeck work.
